Prof Adipala Ekwamu

Professor Adipala Ekwamu (Ugandan) is the Executive Secretary of the Regional Universities Forum for Capacity Building in Agriculture (RUFORUM), a consortium of 60 African Universities that provides research and postgraduate training opportunities for students and faculties in Africa. He provides overall leadership in the running of the RUFORUM Secretariat.

Dr Moses Osiru

Dr. Moses Osiru (Ugandan) is the Deputy Executive Secretary at RUFORUM Secretariat. He provides oversight to implementation of RUFORUM Secretariat programs. He has held this position since 2011. He holds a Ph.D in Agriculture (Plant Pathology) and MSc (Plant Breeding/ Pathology) from Makerere University. Dr. Osiru has over 15 years’ experience in the agricultural and higher education sectors, including seven years within the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR).

Mr Charles Owuor

Mr Charles Owuor (Ugandan) is the Manager for Planning, Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning at the RUFORUM Secretariat. He joined the Secretariat in April 2015 as Programme Officer for Monitoring and Evaluation and was appointed to his current position effective May 2016. He has over 15 years’ experience in Development Programming, Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation.

Dr Paul Nampala

Dr. Paul Nampala (Ugandan) is the Grants Manager at the Secretariat. He joined Secretariat in 2012. He is an Entomologist/Nutritionist with Post-Graduate Level Training in Agricultural Sciences (PhD, Makerere University) & Public Health (MPH, University of Liverpool, UK). Paul worked (2004 – 2011) as Executive Secretary of the Uganda National Academy of Sciences (UNAS).

Dr Solange Uwituze

Dr. Solange Uwituze (Rwandese) is the Programme Manager for Partnerships and Business Management at the RUFORUM Secretariat. She previously served as the Programme Manager for Training and Quality Assurance at the same Organisation. Prior to joining RUFORUM, she served as a Lecturer and Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture – National University of Rwanda. Dr. Uwituze is well published in the area of beef cattle nutrition and to a lesser extent the dairy sector.

Miss Judith Nakyobe

Ms. Judith Nakyobe (Ugandan) is the Finance and Administration Manager at the RUFORUM Secretariat. She joined the Secretariat in 2013 and previously served as the Management Accountant at the Secretariat. Judith holds a BSc in Computer Science and is a Chartered Accountant with full membership to the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (ICPAU). Judith has led the implementation of the computerized RUFORUM financial management system called NAVISION.

Dr Mathews Vakusi Madola

Dr Mathews Vakusi Madola (Malawian) is the Executive/Technical Assistant in the Office of the Executive Secretary at the RUFORUM Secretariat. He joined the Secretariat on 1st April, 2015. His role is to facilitate the Executive Secretary’s strategic interface with RUFORUM Units for the effective mobilization of partners and resources and assisting the Executive Secretary in performing his function as Secretary to the Executive Board and other Board Committees.

Dr Egeru Anthony

Dr. Egeru Anthony (Ugandan) is the Manager of The MCF@RUFORUM project, an eight year project funded by The MasterCard Foundation to strengthen the effectiveness of university contribution to development through skills development particularly entrepreneurship of talented, motivated and disadvantaged youth in Africa. He previously served as Assistant Grants Manager at RUFORUM Secretariat, Lecturer at Makerere University and a secondary school teacher at Merryland High School, Entebbe.

Mrs Sylvia Chindime Mkandawire

Mrs. Sylvia Chindime Mkandawire (Malawian) is the Programme Manager for Training and Quality Assurance at the RUFORUM Secretariat. She joined the Secretariat in 2008. Her role is to implement regional postgraduate training programmes, provide support to capacity building training projects at the Secretariat. Sylvia holds a BSc. Animal Science and MSc Animal Science/ Agricultural Economics both from the University of Malawi, Bunda College of Agriculture. She was funded by RUFORUM for her MSc studies.

Miss Joan Apio

Ms. Joan Apio (Ugandan) is the Communication Officer at the RUFORUM Secretariat. She joined the Secretariat in 2008. As the Communication Officer she engages stakeholders in strategic communications planning and processes that support the organization’s mission, strengthen its visibility and raise public awareness. Joan holds a Bachelor in Office and Information Management and is completing her MSc research with a focus on Evaluating the Institutional Repository for RUFORUM. Prior to joining the Secretariat she worked at Zescom Technologies Limited.

Mr Henry Massa Makuma

Mr. Henry Massa Makuma (Ugandan) is the Program Officer, Grants at the RUFORUM Secretariat where he recently joined (March, 2015). His role is to engage and guide researchers and grantees in implementing grants awarded. Henry holds a BSc. Environment and MSc. Environment and Natural Resource Management both from Makerere University. He was funded by RUFORUM for his MSc studies were he focused on projection of future climate changes and livestock mobility in Uganda.

Mr Emmanuel Okalany

Mr. Emmanuel Okalany (Ugandan) is the Programme Officer Resource Mobilization at RUFORUM. He joined the Secretariat in 2015. Emmanuel is responsible for implementation and management of resource mobilization initiatives and strategic partnerships at the RUFORUM Secretariat. He holds a Masters’ degree in Geomatics and Natural Resources Evaluation from the University of Florence, Italy and Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture and Land Use Management from Makerere University.

Mr Wyclef Ssewankambo (Ugandan) joined the RUFORUM Secretariat in April 2015 as the Management Accountant. He has experience in the Accounting profession. Wyclef holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree (BCOM, First Class Honors) from Makerere University – Kampala and is a Chartered Accountant with full membership to the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA). He is currently pursuing a Masters in Financial Management with Amity University India.

Miss Nambi Elizabeth

Miss. Nambi Elizabeth (Ugandan) is the Systems Accountant at the RUFORUM Secretariat whose main role is to implement the RUFORUM Financial Management System (FMS). She joined the Secretariat in 2010. Prior to this position Elizabeth worked at the Secretariat as the Grants Management Assistant in the Grants Unit from  2012 –2015 and as an Intern in the Networking, Advocacy and Grants Unit (NAG) from 2010 - 2012. Elizabeth holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration (Accounting) and an MBA with the Swiss e-learning Institute.

Miss Juliet Aweko (Ugandan) joined the RUFORUM Secretariat in April 2015 as Program Officer – Human Resources and Procurement. Her major role is to develop and implement Human Resource policies and manage procurement at the Secretariat. Juliet holds a Bachelor's Degree in Organizational Studies & Human Resources, Post Graduate Diploma in Project Planning and Management and is currently perusing her Master’s Degree in Business Psychology. She has over 8 years experience in Human Resources, Administration and Procurement Management.

Mr. Waswa Moses (Ugandan) is the Technical Assistant for Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation at the RUFORUM Secretariat. He comes with over 5 years experience in Agricultural development with emphasis on participatory approaches such as Monitoring and Evaluation. He holds a Master’s degree in Crop Science (Makerere University, 2015) and BSc. Agriculture (Crop Science option) (2010) of Makerere University. Moses started his career as a Research Assistant at National Crops Resources Research Institute (NaCRRI) in 2009, before joining RUFORUM in 2016.
