Emmanuel Okalany (Ugandan) is a Programme Officer for Alumni and Transitions at the Regional Universities Forum for Capacity Building in Agriculture (RUFORUM). He leads the development and implementation of strategic actions that enable universities deliver quality and labour-market-relevant education for faster transition of young people from university to the world of work. His role includes engaging alumni and industry partners to participate in design and delivery of quality tertiary education, translating university research outputs into job-creating enterprises, and facilitating partnerships and networking for enhanced contribution of universities and their graduates to societal and economic growth. Emmanuel joined RUFORUM in 2015 and served as Programme Officer for Partnerships and Development in which he was coordinating and managing RUFORUM partnerships. Before joining RUFORUM, he worked as a climate and policy consultant at International Institute for Tropical Agriculture (IITA) Kampala Office under the CGIAR Research Program on Climate Change, Agriculture and Food Security (CCAFS). His interest is in human capital development, and research and innovation in sustainable land management for resilient agri-food systems.
