Good news. This is the first time in recent years that USDA has had an opportunity to recruit for the USDA Faculty Exchange program. Reportedly, USDA has funding to train 5-6 fellows from the east African region. The Faculty Exchange Program enhances the teaching ability of agricultural educators from institutions of higher learning in developing countries. Participants go to the United States for one academic semester, 4-5 months, to increase their knowledge of, and ability to teach, agricultural economics and marketing, agribusiness, and agrarian law in a market-based economy. Since 1995, the program has provided training opportunities for 310 agricultural educators from 23 countries.
“The 2012 FEP for East Africa focuses on agricultural science with a particular emphasis on the corresponding food safety issues that arise from aflatoxin contamination and pre-harvest solutions to control aflatoxin contamination.”
