Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) is located at Juja, Kenya, about forty kilometers East of Nairobi.  JKUAT has carved a niche for itself as a centre of excellence in the fields of Agriculture, Engineering, Architecture, Pure Sciences, Entrepreneurship, Computer Science and Information Technology.  The academic activities of JKUAT are geared towards the realization of the University’s Mission of training quality human resource at both managerial and supervisory levels for sustainable economic development, in addition to enhancing distinction in, research and scholarship.
 
In line with its JKUAT’s pursuit for excellence, the University’s Vision is to be a World Class Institution of excellence for development, and the Mission is   to produce leaders in training, Research and Innovation in the fields of Agriculture, Engineering, Applied Sciences, Health Sciences, Technology and Enterprise Development to suit the needs of a dynamic world. JKUAT has three Faculties, namely Faculty of Agriculture, Faculty of Science and Faculty of Engineering
   
FACULTY OF AGRICULTURE
The Faculty of Agriculture at JKUAT comprises three departments, namely, Biomechanical and Environmental Engineering, Food Science and Technology and Horticulture. All the three departments in the Faculty of Agriculture have a very strong complement in both basic and applied research in their respective areas of specialization.

Biomechanical and Environmental Engineering Department has two undergraduate programmes: Bachelor of Science in Biomechanical and Process Engineering and Bachelor of Science in Soil, Water and Environmental Engineering.  In addition, it has M.Sc and Ph.D programmes in Soil and Water Engineering, Biomechanical Engineering, Agricultural Processing Engineering, Environment Engineering and Management, and Biosystems Structural Engineering.  The Department of Horticulture runs two undergraduate programmes, namely Bachelor of Science in Horticulture and Bachelor of Science in Ornamental Science and Landscaping.  In addition they have M.Sc and Ph.D programmes in various specializations in Horticulture.  The Department of Food Science and Technology hosts two undergraduate programmes, i.e., Bachelor of Science in Food Science and Postharvest Technology and Bachelor of Science in Food Science and Nutrition. The department runs M.Sc and Ph.D programmes in Food Science and Postharvest Technology, Food Microbiology, Food Chemistry and Food Science and Nutrition.
