Our Strategy

RUFORUM’s work responds to the African development challenges and particularly towards overcoming the challenges of engaging African universities with development processes.

RUFORUM’s strategy is to serve its member universities by helping them contribute to the productivity of small-holder farmers through strengthening (quality and quantity) human resource capacity and subsequently agricultural research for development.

RUFORUM identifies strategic partners to work with and these include sub-regional organizations, regional economic bodies, continental organizations, the private sector, national governments, national research organization, international research organizations, other networks of universities from Africa, Asia, the Americas and Europe and others.

RUFORUM’s programs focus on two core areas – strengthening agricultural research and agricultural training - underpinned by M&E and ICT as support functions that serve both the Secretariat’s own functions as well as potential methodological and support services to RUFORUM member universities.
