Technical Specialist-Sentinel Project

Ekepu David (Ugandan) is the Technical Specialist-Sentinel Project at RUFORUM. He is responsible for the implementation of the Sentinel Project including developing criteria to identify students to benefit from research scholarships, undertake needs assessments and overall support to capacity building activities led by RUFORUM. Mr. Ekepu also supports monitoring and evaluation activities as well as development of proposals and concepts in response to calls for proposals and other needs. Mr. Ekepu is currently pursuing his PhD Studies in Agriculture and Rural Innovation at Makerere University, Uganda; he holds a Master’s degree in Sustainable Agriculture from the University of Free State, South Africa funded by the European Union Intra-ACP CSAA mobility programme; and a BSc. Agriculture from Makerere University. He is a member of the Golden Key International Honor Society, and the African Students and Alumni Forum (ASAF). Previously, Mr. Ekepu worked as a Research Assistant at Makerere University Department of Agribusiness and Natural Resource Economics. He also participated in the student service-learning programme that was co-organised by Iowa State University, Makerere University and VEDCO, a local Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) in Kamuli, Uganda. His research interests are in Agricultural Innovation Systems, Agricultural Extension, Student Centered Outreach and Rural Development. Mr. Ekepu has authored and co-authored several publications.
