The ICT Program at the RUFORUM Secretariat prioritizes a number of key intervention areas and they include: (i) supporting the RUFORUM Universities to create enabling ICT and E-learning environments (ii) developing and supporting knowledge sharing platforms (iii) supporting the implementation of computerised secretariat-wide management information systems (iv) supporting platforms for collaboration to facilitate the RUFORUM Network activities (v) compiling ICT related best practices from the network and sharing them (vi) piloting the implementation of e-learning and e-content/open educational resources development (vii) facilitating capacity building in e-learning, information literacy and related emerging skills.

Through funding from The Association of African Universities, RUFORUM is faciltating E-content development through the Faculties of Agriculture in Egerton University, Kanya and Bunda College of Agriculture, Malawi. The focus regional programes are inMSc in Agricultural Information Communication Management and PhD in Aquaculture and Fisheries Science. The project Goal is to develop electronic teaching resources for ten (10) courses, with a focus on the MSc Agricultural Information Communication Management and the PhD Aquaculture & Fisheries Science”. The Purpose is to improve the delivery methods for the RUFORUM supported post-graduate programmes by building staff capacity to develop e-resources and by encouraging the sharing of research outputs electronically.
The RUFORUM Secretariat is actively working with its Member universities to develop Electronic teaching resources for all the Regional Postgraduate Programmes . This e-content and related capacity building initiatives for the lecturers will help us to revolutionalise the way that teaching and learning is happening in our faculties /schools /colleges of Agriculture. The target is that by 2014, the content for the RUFORUM regional Postgraduate programmes will be available in electronic format and accessible from anywhere.
