Evans Omondi

Evans Omondi is a student at Egerton University pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Economics. He is 22 years of age and comes from Koredo a small village along the shores of L. Victoria, in Homabay County, Kenya. He comes from a family of six that mainly depends on farming as their source of livelihood. Thus, he has encountered financial challenges in his academic journey. He is so grateful to RUFORUM through the TAGDev program at Egerton for supporting him in tuition fee. He has a great passion in education and has always excelled in the different levels from primary, secondary until now in his final year at the university. Evans is a hardworking young man who loves agriculture being that he grew from a farm loving family. He is God fearing and a dedicated Christian, he spends most of his free time cycling, socialising, listening to music and reading. Evans has also had opportunities to serve as a leader. At his primary school he served as a class prefect, in high school he served as a captain in charge labs and furniture, currently he is the class representative of his class and also Chairs Faculty of Agriculture Student’s Association (FASA) and Agricultural Economics Student Association (AESA). This has made him to be a responsible young man who is always ready to serve and care about other people needs. His main ambition is to improve agriculture within his area where most people still practice traditional agriculture. This is through the knowledge and skills that he has acquired from his education.
